Train journey back from Madurai to Chennai. The train is very long - 24 carriages! We leave on time at 8am and arrive a tad early at around 2:35.
As before the journey is very smooth. There are snacks available. We buy lunch taking due notice of...
I read something from Newbigin's Trinitarian Doctrine for Today's Mission. Am interested at p22 that the missionary should not be a "mere proselytizer, one who is seeking adherents for his cause and his opinions; he will seem to be one who comes simply to draw men out of their world into his, rather than one who comes into their world with the light that can illuminate it and their spiritual strength that can enable men to walk rightly in it"' Need to ponder this and this line of thought.
Then at p26: "[Christians] are called on to be witnesses to him who is sovereign over history... They are called upon to recognise the signs of the times - that is to say the signs of the last days... In the light of what Jesus has fine they will understand that war, tumult, persecution and suffering... are not evidence of defeat for the Chrsitian cause, but are among the things which 'must come to pass'."
We check back in to the YWCA and have a quiet rest of the day. Tomorrow we leave at 8am for the 9am service at St Stephen's, Vichoor Village.
