It was great yesterday to meet up with Jebastin whom we first met in Andrah Pradesh 4 years ago. He was then a catechist, now an ordinand at UTC. Here he is at St Marks Cathedral which we visited yesterday afternoon.
It was Moving to read the below. We have heard and read quite a lot about the indigenisation of the Indian church - a very important development from the later 19th century, coming to a certain fruition in 1947 with the formation of CSI, and since then developing in artistic and cultural ways, and in work to influence society eg empower the Dalit.
We the stopped at the Legislative Assemby for Karnataka.
In the evening it was a great joy to share fellowship with another lovely friend, Israel Peter, and also to hear news of the school at Gulbarka. I will post a photo for a later day once uploaded from the camera etc.
A very useful and enjoyable day today in the library, apparently the best theological library in Asia. It is a privilege to be here.
For lunch we joined a student in the mess, accompanied by the loudest singing of 'Praise God though whom all blessings flow' you can imagine!
We washed up our plates here...
After dinner we had a very stimulating and enjoyable conversation with Joseph Muthuraj who lectures in New Testament.
His wife Bulah makes lovely cake!
